P1 Billion NCCC Mall in Buhangin Construction on Track
Four months after its ground breaking, the construction of New City Commercial Corp.’s new shopping mall in Buhangin, reportedly on a budget of P1 billion, is still on track.
The mall situated at the northern part of Davao City, is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2018.
At the sidelines of launching of LTS Retail Specialty Inc, Tjander Regis, a consultant at LTS Pinnacle Holdings, Inc, the parent company of NCCC Group of Companies, updated reporters that the current phase construction involved earth works, digging and building of foundation, which he admits takes a long time.
“But we are confident that we are still on track with our timeline, we can see that we can meet our 2018 target,” Regis said.
NCCC hired DMCI Project Developers Inc as its main contractor for the modern mall, constructed at the Tigatto-Mandug Road in Buhangin.
According to LTS Malls Inc president Sharlene Faye Lim, the mall will position itself as an aspirational but affordable destination for Dabawenyo shoppers.
“It will have the NCCC supermarket and department store, yes it will be more modern but we will not eliminate the affordability value that we have been known and loved for,” Lim said.
The four-storey mall will cover an area of 8,700 square meters, built with basement parking, roof garden area, cinemas and 85 retail shops. It is designed by the Asya Designs, a Manila-based architectural firm that designed SM Mall of Asia and City of Dreams.
The launching of the new mall is expected to generate between 1,500 and 2,000 jobs.
Lim also shared that in addition to the construction of the new shopping mall, NCCC’s other projects include renovation and expansion of its mall in Maa to provide better service to customers and accommodate more space for tenants. It is also eyeing to develop its property in Panacan.
