Davao City’s Drug Task Force Best in the Philippines
A Davao City task force against illegal drugs has been awarded as the best in the Philippines in 2015 for its successful anti-narcotics campaigns.
Davao City Police Office’s (DCPO) City Anti Illegal Drug Special Operation Task Group (CAIDSOTG) received the recognition during last week’s 12th Founding Anniversary of the Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force (AIDSOTF) at the Philippine National Police (PNP) National Headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City.
DCPO’s deputy city director for operation (DCDO) Supt. Francis Donald Brillantes who represented DCPO director Vicente D. Danao, received the plaque of appreciation from Police Director Ricardo C. Marquez during the event.
In an interview with Sun.Star Davao, DCPO spokesperson Chief Inspector Milgrace Cajes Driz cited the city’s CAIDSOTG’s accomplishments and successful operations against illegal drugs was the key to winning the top award.
“It just shows that we are committed and continuous ang ating operations dito sa Davao City when it comes to illegal drugs,” Driz said.
According to DCPO sources, 470 persons were arrested in 465 operations against illegal drugs. And from January to August of this year, 2,371.32 grams of suspected shabu valued at P17,157,844 and 1,779.72 grams of marijuana (P78,006) were confiscated by authorities.
“We will continue with our work which is to stop the use and trade of illegal drugs in our city,” Driz said.
